Darren Waller Injury Update: Raiders TE Says He's Ready to Play Week 1
After a Hamstring Injury Limited Him in 2021, Waller Is Back and Healthy
Darren Waller's one season with the Giants was marred by a hamstring injury after they acquired him in a trade with the Raiders. But in an interview with Heavy Sports, Waller revealed that he's recovered from his hamstring injury and is planning to be ready to play as soon as possible.
Waller's Injury Status This Week
On Monday, Raiders interim head coach Rich Bisaccia said he was hopeful Waller would be able to play in Week 1 against the Los Angeles Chargers. Waller himself has said that he's feeling good and is ready to go.
Waller's return to the field would be a major boost for the Raiders, who are looking to make a playoff push in 2022. Waller is one of the most dynamic tight ends in the NFL, and he's capable of making big plays in the passing game and as a blocker in the running game.
If Waller is unable to play in Week 1, the Raiders will likely turn to Foster Moreau to start at tight end. Moreau is a solid player, but he's not the same caliber of player as Waller.
