Who is the finance minister of Norway?
Trygve Slagsvold Vedum is the current Finance Minister of Norway.
He was appointed to the position on 14 October 2021, following the formation of the Støre government.
Vedum is a member of the Centre Party and has served as a member of the Norwegian Parliament since 2005. He has held a number of ministerial positions in previous governments, including Minister of Agriculture and Food from 2013 to 2017.
As Finance Minister, Vedum is responsible for overseeing the Norwegian economy and fiscal policy. He is also responsible for managing the Government Pension Fund Global, one of the world's largest sovereign wealth funds.
Vedum's appointment as Finance Minister was welcomed by the business community. The Norwegian Confederation of Enterprises (NHO) said that Vedum was a "competent and experienced politician" who would be able to "steer the Norwegian economy through challenging times."
